A trip to Mexico is not complete without experiencing Aztec tortilla soup, Chile Nogales and a good margarita. In Todos Santos they make it all and make it right including mango margaritas made from locally grown produce. Todos Santos is an oasis with a tremendous artesian flow of water running through the lush valley on the northwest side of town. Organic and non-organic crops are grown nearby including chilies, tomatoes, strawberries, lettuces, nopales, corn, mangoes, limons, and more. Todos Santos has been a provider of produce and seafood for Baja Sur tables for over 250 years.

In Todos Santos one can enjoy foods ranging from street side tacos under a palapa to fine dining in restaurants written up in the New York Times. One could venture this “Magical Pueblo” has more quality restaurants per capita than just about anywhere in Mexico. Sadly, one mainstay eatery Santanas (and the Hotel Todos Santos) is no more, having been reconverted to its former use as a privately owned casa.
Upper tier standbys like the Café Santa Fe, La Coronela in the Hotel California, and Los Adobes remain for their faithful clientele. A new addition to this triumvirate of haute cuisine is Ristorante Tre Galline located at Topete and Benito Juarez. Opened by recent immigrants from Northern Italy - the family makes their own pastas, sausage, raviolis, and imports their wines, anchovies and oils from Italy. They do it all like your mama did back in Tuscany when you were a child.

Los Adobes another fine dining favorite, has creative Mexican cuisine much favored by restaurant critics loaded with delectable sauces and spices while Las Fuentes and Tequila’s Sunrise Bar and Grill offer the more standard Mexican fare of Tacos, Enchiladas, local seafood, and tender Arrachera beef. If you rode your Harley into town and have an iron stomach- try the ever rowdy, ever popular Shut-up Franks Sports bar on Degallado. The Hummer and Escalade crowd gravitate towards Swiss chef owned El Gusto! At Posada La Poza Resort on the lagoon in Todos Santos while folks strolling downtown in the art district stop in at the Caffé Todos Santos on Calle Centenario for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Bon Appetit!
For an evening respite and some lively conversation, drop into the La Copa Wine Bar on Legaspi behind the Galleria Todos Santos. Here you may meet local artists, writers and photographers who will regale you with stories of life in Baja’s version of Santa Fe New Mexico.
